Shirley & Jeb – It’s Time for Prom!
Posted on April 30, 2007
On Saturday, I had the pleasure of shooting Shirley & Jeb pre-prom pictures at Father Hennepin Park and the Stone Arch Bridge on Nicollet Island in Minneapolis (wow… now that’s a mouthful!). It was really fun to work with these two. You could tell they were excited to get to their prom at De La Salle High School. I had never done a shoot like this before, but to my understanding, it is becoming more popular for parents to hire a professional photographer to take prom pictures. I guess people are starting to shy away from the stiff, emotionless, posed pictures. Lucky for me, I don’t take those kind of pictures
Here are some of my favorites from our session:

New Camera and Lenses!!!
Posted on April 27, 2007
I finally made the decision to invest quite a bit of money into some new photo equipment. I purchased Canon’s 5D, 24-70 f/2.8 zoom lens, and the 135 f/2 prime lens. I can’t wait to really break them in at my photo sessions this weekend! Obviously, I took a moment to play with my new “toys” tonight when my son was cruising around our coffee table and couch. Not alot of artistic touch went into these, mind you. I was simply sitting on the couch relaxing with the camera in my hand.
When I was editing these pictures, I couldn’t believe the color saturations and the nice blur the lens provided. I barely had to do any editing. For those photo buffs out there, these were taken at 1600 ISO!!! I’m amazed that it took me this long to purchase this camera.

Lindsey + Phil
Posted on April 24, 2007
What a fantastic day Lindsey and Phil had for their wedding. They were married on April 14th in Princeton at New Life Christian Center. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, so we were lucky enough to be able to get outside and take some pictures. Here are some of my favorites from the day:

Dad’s first sight of his little girl

Phil’s reaction when he first saw Lindsey

Some fun shots of the couple outside

It’s amazing the shot you can get when you are in a bathroom and they are fixing your dress. This is one of my absolute favorites from the day

Phil’s dad is a minister; he gave the message during the ceremony

Both families took a couple of minutes in the middle of the ceremony to say a prayer. It was a very powerful moment.

The happy couple after being pronounced “Man & Wife!”

Some receiving line shots

I moment between the groom and his new bride

They had a couple of seconds to pose for a quick picture between greeting the guests. One of the most natural shots of the day!

Congratulations, Lindsey and Phil!
