Apple Orchard Minis!
Posted on September 30, 2010
So, these sessions were rescheduled twice before we were finally able to get them in this week. What a gorgeous evening it was! We couldn’t have asked for better weather. I guess this is Mother Nature’s way of paying us back for last fall’s atrocity. I remember the 2nd weekend in October when it SNOWED for my mini-sessions. I selected AppleWood Orchard in Lakeville from the one where my son visits for his preschool. I was wracking my brain for places to go, and this one just popped out at me when I was filling out the permission slip for his field trip there.
I called them up, and they were exactly what I was looking for. I highly recommend a trip out there if you are looking for a fun family trip this fall!!
First is adorable Emma for her 1 year photos. She was my model at my Photo Mama workshop in June!

Up next is Will, Alex, & Max… three boys! Will & Alex were dead-set on picking a bunch of apples, while Max did not want to stray more than 3 feet from his dad.

My third family was Charlie & Audrey. These two siblings were tons of fun, and Audrey gave both mom & me a run for our money! She is at that ripe toddler age where it is especially difficult to photograph. We managed, though, to get some awesome shots. We got Charlie to behave by bribing him with Smarties!

She did not want this headband on

Finally is a little girl who I’ve worked with the past 2 years, since she was 1 year old. Addie was a doll and really lit up the camera in the beautiful evening sunlight. It is always a pleasure to see them again, and I’m super excited about their new addition coming in January!

Corbin & Emma
Posted on September 27, 2010
Another adorable sibling pair! Corbin & Emma came in with different props to take photos with. Corbin brought his guitar, and Emma brought a cute straw hat and a fun wand. We were definitely able to capture some neat shots with those items! It was so dark in the studio, due to the sun going down and the rain clouds, so these shots were all with my studio lights. It brought me back to my old studio days where I had one little window that didn’t help with any light at all. Despite the fact that my lens had trouble focusing in the dark, the photos went really well! By the end of the session, these two were having so much fun, they had gotten completely goofy and loopy, much to their parent’s delight.
My heart always melts when the child says at the end of a session, “Mom, when we do pictures again, can we come back here?” Sigh… I love it! Thanks for coming in you guys, and yes, I hope you do come back next time you need photos!

She didn’t want to take the hat off at this point.

Emma is in ballet, so she showed off some of her moves.

I’m honestly not sure if this was exaggerated or real… either way, it’s a fantastic photo of Corbin!

Love this next series of photos of these two!

Claire & Natalie
Posted on September 27, 2010
Claire & Natalie and their parents were originally scheduled for my apple orchard mini-sessions on Thursday, the 23rd. However, all of the forecasters were predicting rain all day on Thursday, so we moved it to Wednesday… which seemed to be sunny, not rainy. Well, the rain moved in earlier than expected, so we had to move the apple orchard mini-sessions to this afternoon! However, they needed their photos done soon to get them ready for a very early family Christmas celebration, and they didn’t care of they were taken in studio vs. in the apple orchard. So, that’s what we did.
These two girls were so adorable together. Claire was such a wonderful older sister to Natalie during the session, especially since Natalie is at that proverbial 18-month-old stage for photos. In other words, she didn’t really want to sit still for very long.
With Claire’s help, we managed to get her to sit there and also got some good laughs out of her. Natalie also lit up the camera as well. It was such a pleasure to work with this family, and I hope I get the opportunity to do it again sometime in the future!
