Jennae & Linda

Jennae is a friend of a friend who was in need of some headshots for her acting career that she is trying to launch. She plans to move out to California and give thing a shot within the next few months! I didn’t get to see her act much, but she is definitely photogenic enough. Jennae took some great shots, at least in my opinion they are. Hopefully she feels the same, because everyone is their own worst critic! Her mom, Linda, was in town to pop in for a few shots in-between Jennae’s headshots. Thanks, ladies for working with me! It was tons of fun

Mike with Crystal Entertainment

I had the pleasure of working with Mike a few days ago to take his headshots. He needed them for lots of different things (website, business card, etc.), so the pressure was on! Mike is the owner and operator of Crystal Entertainment. I originally met him at a wedding last fall where he was the DJ. He did a great job and highly recommend him to any bride & groom looking for a DJ for their wedding. Thanks, Mike and good luck!

On Monday morning, I visited FPS Financial, Inc. in New Brighton, Minnesota. It was one of their employees, Lindsey, who referred my services to them. I shot her daughter’s pictures this past fall. She was gracious enough to suggest my name as a photographer to shoot some portraits of everyone in the office. Thankfully, they hired me for my services! FPS Financial, Inc. provides a variety of services from Tax Planning to Asset Management to Business Planning. It’s a small group of people, but I could tell that they really enjoy what they do and have a passion for it. It was a pleasure working with them all! The Neonatologists

I had the pleasure of taking formal portraits of the Neonatologists from the University of Minnesota Medical Center. For those of you who are not familiar with the term “Neonatologists,” they are the doctors who treat the babies in the NICU & sometimes the Pediactric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). I was excited, but also a little nervous about this job since it was the first of its kind for me. The hospital had to have someone there from their communications department to make sure that I did not get any patients in any of my pictures due to HIPPA privacy restrictions. This was especially tricky since we took the portraits in the main lobby of the Medical Center! I didn’t want to lug my studio lights and backdrop down there, so I made use of the natural lighting coming in through the large windows. I am so happy with how the portraits came out! My husband was there with my reflector to help with some fill light. I don’t normally use one, but I think the results came out beautifully. They are all amazing doctors, and I was delighted to be the ones to take their portraits!

Muriel & her comedy syndication website

I had the pleasure of taking Muriel’s portraits for her new website promoting her business in comedy syndication. She works over in Golden Valley for an insurance company, so her commute from White Bear Lake is not fun at all. This has been a passion for her for a while, and she decided that this is the time to start doing it! Muriel plans to start out with getting published in the local papers and work her way up from there. She boasts that her comedy ranges from raising kids to pets to working in an office setting to everyday life. It was really a fun photoshoot with her and all of the props in my studio. It was a first for me, but definitely a fun one!!

Michele & Jorge

This photo session had a few firsts for me. I have never done a photo session at Lake Calhoun. I have never done a photo session for a couple that wasn’t either an engagement session or a family session. I have never photographed another fellow photographer. I know Michele, because she was the photographer for my wedding almost 4 years ago! I met up with her again at a friend’s wedding, and now she hired me to take some “love” pictures of her and her significant other, Jorge. She plans on moving to Miami eventually to retire and do strictly photography, so some of the pictures we took in her “Miami” clothes, as she puts it. It was windy and about mid-50’s. I was cold in my sweatshirt and jeans!! She definitely was dedicated to achieving that “look”. As you can see below, the shots we got were great!

Lisa’s headshots for the Opera

I met up with Lisa on Wednesday night at the new Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis to take some headshots. We actually didn’t need to venture far, since the lighting & weather was so wonderful, everyplace we went was perfect. And, everywhere around the Guthrie provides fantastic backdrops. It was my first trip to the Guthrie (sadly) since they opened this new location, and I must say, I was not disappointed. We never actually went in, but from the outside, man did it look cool. Next time my husband & I have a date night, I know where we are going!
Lisa just got her undergraduate degree and was studying how to become an opera singer! She plans to apply for some summer young artist/apprentice opera programs and needed some headshots taken. Lisa claimed that she hasn’t had her pictures professionally taken since her high school senior pictures, so she was a little nervous and didn’t know what to expect. It didn’t take her long to get into her groove! Her pictures turned out fantastic!!! I’m glad she specified before our session ended that they all needed to be in black & white. That saved me alot of post-processing “decision” time (”Do I make this picture black & white or sepia… or do I leave it in color?”)

Shirley & Jeb – It’s Time for Prom!

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of shooting Shirley & Jeb pre-prom pictures at Father Hennepin Park and the Stone Arch Bridge on Nicollet Island in Minneapolis (wow… now that’s a mouthful!). It was really fun to work with these two. You could tell they were excited to get to their prom at De La Salle High School. I had never done a shoot like this before, but to my understanding, it is becoming more popular for parents to hire a professional photographer to take prom pictures. I guess people are starting to shy away from the stiff, emotionless, posed pictures. Lucky for me, I don’t take those kind of pictures Here are some of my favorites from our session:

I thought it was time to add a picture of myself to my website. All and all, I think it turned out rather good! I just went in front of the mirror and took this picture of myself. All it took was 1 minute to take the picture, 1 minute to upload, and 1 minute to edit!
