Kristi + Josh

My last event of the weekend was Kristi & Josh’s small, intimate wedding at Forepaugh’s in St. Paul. This was my 3rd time this year shooting at this venue, so needless to say, I was very familiar with the location. We did something different this time, however. The couple and their small bridal party took a walk over to neighboring Irvine Park. When we got there, two different photographers were photographing two different couples who also came there to take pictures! Then, as we were finishing up, ANOTHER couple showed up to take pictures! It was fun trying to dodge around the different couples & wedding parties
Kristi & Josh were a beautiful and elegant couple who wanted a simple & intimate wedding with their closest family & friends. I was only there a few hours, but there was no doubting the fact that these two are in love and are perfect for each other!

They did something I had yet to see at a ceremony. They each took a rose from their mothers and exchanged them as their first gift to each other as husband & wife. I thought this was a really cool thing to include in their ceremony!

The wind blew her hair in her face, and she kept fixing it. I told her to just leave it and give me a “serious” look
This is the resulting picture.

Where’s Waldo?? Let’s see if you can spot the another wedding couple walking out of the picture in the distance.

Congrats, Kristi & Josh! Thanks for letting me share in your special day!
Lynn & Tony – Engaged to be married on October 13th, 2007

Welcome to event #2 of the weekend! I photographed Lynn & Tony’s engagement pictures at Minnehaha Park on Saturday morning. Coincidentally, I shot a wedding there on Friday afternoon, so I was very familiar with the area. However, when you do multiple sessions at a location, it forces your creative juices to flow, so you don’t have the same backgrounds with the same exact lighting, etc. I was excited to happen upon some new spots at Minnehaha Park! There was a 2nd set of stairs that lead down to where you can wade into the creek. There were some beautiful spots for some pictures along the way. And, I loved the fact that it wasn’t crowded due to the fact it was early in the morning!
Lynn & Tony were wonderful to work with, and I’m looking forward to their wedding this October!

I tried something different with this shot. I wanted to get the effect of the water moving while also keeping our couple in focus. It took a few shots, but I think I got a good one! Definitely not as easy as having a tripod

They weren’t very comfortable with being “kissy” in public, but I did get them to pose for one kiss at the end of our session. It was perfect!

Shayla + Matt

Shayla & Matt were married on Friday, July 20th at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis, and they couldn’t have asked for better weather! With the muggy weather just around the corner, they were fortunate enough to dodge the hot & sticky weather. Their story really is a cute one. Shayla & Matt met way back in junior high! Since then, they have been dating. Based on the speeches given at their wedding by all of the members of their bridal party, these two were made for each other. They just graduated from college and will be starting Veterinarian school in Iowa this fall.
Their wedding was the first of three jobs I had this weekend, so stay tuned for lots of blogging this week!

These flower girls were adorable!

The colors that Shayla & Matt picked out were so perfect! I loved her flowers and the pink on the tux!

I thought I would try a fun twist on this type of flower shot. I used a wide-angle lens instead of a portrait.
I think it works!

The couple’s reaction to one of the speeches.

I had alot of fun shooting these dancing shots. I experimented with alot of different camera & flash settings. I definitely think there were some keepers!

I love this shot!!! It’s not exactly PG, but it still a fantastic picture.

Congrats, Shayla & Matt! You had a beautiful day, a beautiful wedding, and I’m sure you will have a beautiful honeymoon in Hawaii!
