Beckett – 12 months

Posted on February 3, 2010

This guy was so expressive and fun to photograph!  He kind of reminded me of my oldest, Nicholas, when he was his age.  Nicholas was always good to give me a bunch of different expressions, and Beckett was so exception.  He was so happy the entire time, too.  I don’t think he even cried or fussed even once.  He is a new walker, so he wasn’t really moving anywhere fast, much to my delight.  It definitely made my job easier trying to photograph him.  This session was also a big milestone for me, since it was the very last session I did in my old studio!  I will be officially moving everything over on February 14th. :)

Amanda & Brian are HUGE Twins fans, so of course, we had to photograph Beckett in this adorable hat. :)

Evan & Ethan

Posted on February 2, 2010

Like I’ve said before in other posts, I have a soft spot in my heart for parents of boys, especially if they are spaced out similarly to my own.  Taking these boys’ photos brought me back a year ago when I first photographed Nicholas & Andrew in my studio.  In fact, when I was editing my photos, Nicholas thought that little Ethan was Andrew! :)  They don’t look anything alike, however you know how little kids see the world around them.  Evan is 4 and already a very loving brother to Ethan.  Both boys were such a joy to photograph and yielded some awesome photographs!  It’s always hard to tell what is going to happen when you get two boys to photograph, but this session went wonderfully.  I can’t wait to work with them again this year when the weather gets nicer!

Joey & Gia

Posted on February 2, 2010

These two kids were adorable.  Joey just turned 3 and was quiet for most of the session, however he gave us some great smiles.  For a 3-year-old boy, he was extremely cooperative and listened so well.  Gia was a sassy little 19-month-old who was super cute, but sure gave us a run for our money!  She was very particular about how she wanted things in the photos, and didn’t want to do anything we wanted her to do.  But, her photos were amazing.  These two together make such a great pair.  I can’t wait to work with them again!

In need of newborn models!

Posted on February 1, 2010

I’m in need of some newborn models who will be 1-2 weeks old at the end of February/early March.  I want to try out some new things in my studio with the natural lighting!  The session would be free, and the disc of high-resolution images from the session is $50.  Please contact me if you are due around that time, and I’ll reserve you a spot.  I’m only taking the first 4 moms who contact me, so it’s first come, first serve!

Thanks!

Jeff & Kristen – my brother’s wedding!!

Posted on January 29, 2010

It was such a fun weekend.  Crazy busy, but so much fun.  My old associate Betsy Wall did a fantastic job!  I’ll post a link to her photos when she has them up.  I can’t wait to see them!!!  Here are some of the photos I had time to get during the day.  It was so strange being on the other side of things.  I was the one getting dressed and putting on make-up, walking down the aisle, posing for photos, giving a speech and dancing.  It was strange!  It made me feel really old, since it’s probably my last wedding that I will ever be in. :)

And, here is where we jump to the bar after the wedding.  I took a few photos after the ceremony, but they were mostly of families.  We went to Coopers Pub right across the street from the reception location, the Doubletree Park Place Hotel in St. Louis Park.

Betsy and I must think alot alike, since her strobes always seemed to go off around the same time I would take a photo!  It’s total teamwork on this shot, even though neither one of us planned it that way.  I had the better angle, but it was her lighting that made this photo great!

He actually showed us that he can dance really well, too!  He had the arm swing thing going. :)

Betsy suggested this photo, so I can’t take all the credit for it’s sweetness!

My brother and his new wife will be leaving Hawaii tomorrow, much to my delight. ;)  I’ve been extremely jealous of them all week long and am anxious to have them home, so they can share this bitterly cold MN weather with all of us!

Facebook & Twitter (???)

Posted on January 20, 2010

So, given the age we live in now where social networking sites practically rule our ways of communication, I figured it was time to try and boost my exposure out there a little.  I’m not a huge Twitter fan, but I am open to using it more if my clients and fans are interested.  I’ve created a poll regarding the usage of Twitter.  If you would be so kind as to fill out a response, I would be so appreciative!

Next comes Facebook :)  I know that I already have a loyal following, but I want to greatly increase that number very soon!  Here are some benefits to becoming a fan on Facebook, if you haven’t already done so:

  • Starting within the next month, I will post monthly deals that will only be available to fans of Live and Love Studios, either for wedding clients or for portraits clients… or sometimes both!
  • If you get 10 friends to become fans and write on my wall that you sent them, you get 15% off your next session.  And, those friends get 10% off their first session!

Finally, if you are another wedding vendor, send me a link to your fan page, so I can add it to Live and Love Studio’s favorite pages!

It’s official!!

Posted on January 20, 2010

I’m going to be moving into my new studio on February 15th!!  I’ve posted a couple of more photos, courtesy of the property management company.  Once I get settled in there, I’ll be sure to post lots more photos ;)  I think I’m going to do some kind of pricing promotion to celebrate the move for portrait sessions there scheduled in February and early March.  I’ll be sure to announce that soon!

My baby Andrew is 1!

Posted on January 19, 2010

I can hardly believe a whole year has gone by, or should I say flown by!  Andrew is 1 and always getting himself into trouble.  A couple of little facts about Andrew from this year:

  • He hit all of his gross motor skills milestones way ahead of time, much to our displeasure.  That means he was rolling over at 2 weeks, sitting up at 5 months, crawling at 7/8 months, and walking at 10 months.  Now today, he has shown me that he is close to running.  Yay for us.  Nicholas didn’t start to crawl until 11 months and then walked very slowly at 13 months.  I have mixed feelings about having Andrew so mobile so early!
  • He refuses to do sign language.  Nicholas loved it, but all Andrew did was the sign “more” at around 9 months.  He quickly dropped it and proceed to either point and say “That!” or open his mouth and say “Aaaaaah” as if a sign was pointing in that said “Insert food here.”
  • I thought Nicholas was a vocal kid, but Andrew has already shown us that he can do his older brother one better.  He’ll come up to us, babble out some baby speak with intonations and facial expressions like we should completely understand what he is saying.  We have already figured out that the way to complete the sentence or question is to respond with “Really!” or “Oh yeah?!”. :)
  • He is a major klutz.  He falls down and bumps something at least 3-4 times a day and cries hard about it.  For being so active so early, you would figure that he would be more stable on his feet, but no.
  • Andrew wants to do everything his older brother, Nicholas, wants to do.  This sometimes works in both of their favors, but for the most part, this has been a major annoyance for Nicholas.
  • Loves music and loves to dance.  In fact, that was the only way I could get him to sit still for a few seconds during today’s quick photo shoot!
  • If Andrew doesn’t get what he wants, watch out.  Nicholas is our laid back kid, but I can’t say the same thing about Andrew!
  • Just like his older brother, Andrew is a mama’s boy.  I hope that sticks through high school & college. ;)
  • He gives the best kisses and is a sweetheart deep down under that rough exterior.

I can’t wait to see what the next few years bring us!!!
